A reminder that JD Vance was a DEl admission at Yale under a program that gave veterans and low-income kids scholarships to schools like Yale. That is diversity, equity, and inclusion; the greatest enemy of our time that must be defeated, according to the right.
Universities canceled celebrating the lunar new year due to Trump's DEI orders, and last week, the POTUS and Vance blamed DEI with zero evidence for a tragic midair plane crash, before any investigation was done… while 67 bodies were still being collected.
Are we being ridiculous enough yet?
The absurdity of listening to the press secretary saying, "Do you pray your pilot has a certain skin color?" and making a tragedy about race and DEI, is the problem.
Boogeyman Identity Politics employing disgusting and dangerously irresponsible speculation and misinformation-spreading as its weapon of choice for every issue — a great distraction from the real cover story: the wealthiest man in the world, an unelected official, has unchecked access to our government, including pushing out top officials and illegally gaining access to Americans' payment system.
People think DEI is about handing jobs to undeserving people of color. It’s not. You’d be surprised to know it’s white women and veterans who benefit the most from DEI, and most corporate DEI positions are filled by white women. But you wouldn’t know this, because what is divisive is what gets elevated.
DEI is veterans and Active Duty military spouses.
DEI is single moms and dads.
DEI is parental and caregiving inclusion, so if your family member is dying, your company provides paid leave.
DEI is maternity and paternity leave.
DEI is equal pay, no matter the gender.
DEI is me not being institutionalized or discriminated against because I’m disabled.
DEI is getting a job for which I am QUALIFIED for, not discriminated against because of my disability which has happened A LOT.
Pay attention to the word “qualified”. People must be qualified. DEI is not stuffing unqualified people in positions they’re not qualified for. Though, let’s be honest, DEI would not be the original sinner to give positions to the unqualified…that will benefit or be loyal to you. Ahem, nepotism.
DEI is education for disabled kids.
DEI is religious freedom.
DEI is a breast-feeding room for moms in public spaces.
DEI is promoting paid intern positions because not everyone has the luxury of taking unpaid intern jobs.
DEI is asking why there is a “pink tax” that makes products marketed to females more expensive than its exact counterpart marketed to men.
DEI is accessible public spaces so people like me can exist outside our bedroom walls and be a part of society, thanks to elevators and wheelchair ramps.
DEI is first responders receiving care. Remember in 2019 when Republicans blocked a renewal assistance funding bill for 9/11 first responders? It was John Stewart, an “evil liberal”, who came out of retirement just to you advocate for DEI and human decency for first responders by publicly shaming the GOP into voting in favor of the 9/11 first responder renewal care bill.
DEI is an awareness and philosophy, not forced employment quotas, nor an implied decrease in quality.
DEI is Meritocracy in action.
DEI is also just a term coined to promote awareness in considering all talent, ensuring that everyone has an equal chance to be considered for jobs they are qualified for. However, DEI is also often misused by the opposition as a scapegoat, diverting attention away from real issues and onto a misguided notion that DEI is the root cause of all problems.
The partisan right media and GOP’s non-stop fear-mongering campaign, purposefully elevating all things “woke”, cancel culture, and DEI, making it seem as if a dozen tweeters' complaints represent millions, keeps the scary woke narrative in the headlines for fear-based loyalty. Are there problems with DEI? Yes, including power, whether corporations or politicians, placating and exploiting it to curry favor, trust, or division. But if you really looked at this silly existential anti-DEI propaganda campaign, you’d wonder why so much time is spent on DEI as public enemy no.1, including banning “DEI” events or signing an executive order to “BAN” DEI, claiming complete defeat of it, as if you can ban it, though, the administration is directing federal employees to tattletale any mentions of DEI, so offenders can be punished. This is what “freedom of speech” looks like.
The portrayal of DEI as scruffy, unskilled people of color grabbing all the jobs is inaccurate, perpetuated by partisan “news” to appeal to prejudices, in an “Us vs Them” imaginary fight to drive fear and votes. In team sports politics, simple messaging requires a clear “good” and “evil” guy, and deflects all accountability. But DEI has been around forever. Civil rights was DEI, women's suffrage was DEI, women's rights, domestic abuse laws, disability rights, and child labor laws are DEI. My right to not be institutionalized in a home just because I’m disabled, is DEI. The future prohibition on paying disabled people $1 an hour will also be DEI.
The fear mongering has been incredulous, and the purposefully misleading information and distracting vilifications reckless. When the POTUS claimed with no evidence that the recent midair plane crash was DEI, he failed to mention his chaos in Washington, like firing the head of TSA, coast guard, gutting aviation safety and advisory committees, and Elon Musk pushing out federal officials, including FAA seniors and its chief Musk didn’t like because they investigated and fined SpaceX for safety violations. I’m not saying these are the reasons for the crash, but if we’re speculating, then let’s throw it all out there.
The POTUS saying you have to be “high quality, superior & high intellect”, as if nobody had common sense for standards before he arrived, as if disabled, minorities, LGBTQ, or women can’t be representatives of these qualities, erases work communities have been doing to get society to see us as viable and capable for any job in which we are qualified for. This measuring system of a DEI higher, as the POTUS pointed out disabled people, is a demeaning farce that spreads the pervasive lie that disabled people can’t do things. I know of amputee pilots who have been flying for decades — let’s stop limiting human potential with such simpleton thinking. How ridiculous that every human error committed by a non-straight white male now has to be scrutinized under the glaring DEI spotlight, but all errors outside minorities are not politicized.
The biggest threat of our times is not DEI, it is our overall packaged system of corrupt, feckless and morally bankrupt politicians, and billionaires and millionaires stealing our money: ordering more tax breaks and loopholes for the rich from their bought politicians. The threat has been billionaires buying our democracy. The threat is a billionaire worth almost $450 billion (doubling his worth after buying the 2024 election), and the wealthiest man in the world is physically inside Washington walls directing spending cuts to the middle class and poor whom he claims will have to deal with the resulting hardships he will bestow, as he carelessly tries to gut a federal system he has no experience in. Elon is ramming through, trying to run government like you do a profitable business (which he can’t even do with his own companies like Twitter, his propaganda arm, that’s reporting 84% revenue decline since purchase), instead of an entity that is meant to take care of, not exploit, 350 million Americans.
On top of this, and the manufactured distraction that is the DEI and tariff war, Elon has been given insane access to government and taxpayer files, while his personal staff of twenty-year olds set up servers that lock out actual government officials, as they attempt to steal whatever data they want. The Treasury Secretary was pushed out, and now Elon has access to trillions in federal payments, competitors information and hundreds of millions of Americans sensitive information, from our social security numbers, medicare, everything. Not even elected officials have access to this trove, but a fake department created by an unelected, unvetted multi-billionaire who bought the POTUS. has indefinite access and influence on our system and lives?
Elon, someone who bought the election for $250-290 million dollars, is the largest government contract recipient, to the tune of billions of American taxpayers annually, for his many companies that are also under investigation in almost every federal department. Until now.
Elon was not confirmed by Congress, nor has he divested from ANY of his companies and the extraordinary conflicts of interest, and yet he is literally inside government walls with zero security clearance, trying to take control of access and power. We would call this oligarchy in other countries like Russia, but at least even there there's a perceived layer, here our oligarch is literally sleeping on Washington floors 24/7 with personal motivations and the most sensitive information. An unelected oligarch gets unfettered access. If this was democrats letting Bill Gates or George Soros do whatever he wanted, dismantling the government and causing misinformation chaos, the right would not stay silent, as they shouldn’t, as we shouldn’t.
Musk has been placing his own staffers throughout Washington and forcing themselves through the system. Elon gets to go around claiming “criminals” with no conflict of interest problems or independent investigations. This isn’t about being partisan. I hate partisan politics. Partisanship is why we’re here today with the system we have. I would speak up about this no matter who this was. I’ve always been against money in politics on both sides, for obvious reasons. BUT this is on a scale we’ve never seen before. If this was happening anywhere else in the world, the US would immediately categorize this as a coup.
Elon, our biggest “freedom speech” protector, who says fake news should not be censored, is currently banning people for even talking about this on Twitter. Since purchase, he’s used Twitter as a manipulative algorithmic arm to spread his narratives, all while he bans and removes what and who he doesn’t like in the name of “free speech”.
I don’t disagree that there are massive systemic problems and things need to change, but it's not just one party committing the problems, and a private unelected citizen, the richest man in the world who has heavily vested interests should not the be one doing it, for obvious reasons. One person should not have this much power as judge and executioner, forcing out top officials and illegally doing whatever he wants with nobody stopping him.
BUT it’s DEl that must be stopped. Come on. We’re smarter than this. Honestly ask yourself, is DEI truly the root of all our problems, deserving of this much attention? Or is it boogeyman identity politics?
The DEI war serves as a catchall manufactured distraction to aimlessly disparage while they dismantle the system and enrich donors, diverting attention from the government's internal affairs. Even if one sees Elon's actions as justified because he’s smart or his “contributions to humanity are so great”, the situation still presents a substantial conflict of interest with prominent red flags. The double standards and grandstanding prevalent in our two party system's glass theater would undoubtedly provoke outrage from the right if the left were committing this same behavior, and rightfully so. But in the partisan echo chamber, right media, like Fox News, are barely reporting on all the real antics going on, including with Elon Musk.
JD Vance’s attendance at Yale was due to DEI initiatives. Having benefited from DEI himself, including his mother who received welfare on different stages of her life due to addiction, and those in the administration who received family wealth through government subsidies like the POTUS and Elon, they are now pulling the ladder up for everyone else in a fabricated an existential war. What is the purpose of this - deflection and distracting divisive political theater?
Always look at what's behind the distractions.
