I need to catch up on alot of posts here but until then watch this video and check out my grassroots project. It's where I've been for the past few weeks -- trying to launch and get this thing together.
Bike for Kam is back and the guys will be departing Golden Gate on May 12-19. In case you didn't read about Bike for Kam last year, here is what it is about in 2 minute video form.
Seven-Day San Francisco-to-Santa Monica Bike Ride.
Bike for Kam is about a group of friends coming together to complete a coastal bike tour from San Francisco to Santa Monica on May 12-19, 2012. The purpose of their journey is to raise funds and awareness for their friend Kam, and for all those afflicted with HIBM (Hereditary Inclusion Body Myopathy).
Through this project we hope to raise awareness of HIBM so a treatment can be achieved for this rare genetic muscle debilitating, and degenerative condition. A cure for HIBM is near and it is no longer about finding a cure; it’s about funding it.
Unlike, other large scale, well funded and well staffed bike rides, Bike for Kam consists of a small group of riders without the conveniences of mobile tent cities, swag wagons, or well stocked stops. A fully “loaded touring” ride means participants carry everything on their bikes; from camping gear, clothes, food and water. Those who choose to ride for Bike for Kam are open to the unknown and the journey as they ride together for a single purpose.
