Weekend Getaway
In an attempt to relax and not think about MANY things Jason and I took off for a little weekend getaway. I planned the trip out for us and it was a great weekend. I would say we pretty much achieved not thinking about life...at least for 2 days.
On Saturday we went to Napa/Calistoga and then Sunday we traveled further north into the mountains and we didn't really tie ourselves to a schedule - doing what we felt like at the moment.
A little wine, a little adventure, surrounded by beautiful environment, meeting new people...it was good.
Lots of fun mixed in with relaxation is something I haven't really been able to do this year. I also had my first professional massage, which is actually good for us patients to do. It is good to stretch and massage your muscles as much as you can. If only I had my own personal masseuse.
I just finished making dinner and my goodness, I am having such a hard time holding my head up this evening. I think I mentioned it before but this year the most noticeable weakness is my neck. It feels like it happened all of sudden. It is really strange for something as simple as holding your neck up to suddenly become a conscious effort. It is really hard to explain, because if anyone was looking at me they wouldn't notice, but I can literally feel the weakness in my neck. I have to concentrate just to hold it head up and I can feel the strain. While I was chopping, my fingers also felt really weak and I found myself feeling like I was in the homestretch of a relay race.
"Just a few more chops, you can do it".
Ughhh, it can be really frustrating, but you just have to keep going. Chopping is good exercise for my fingers and hands at least. Jason thinks I should record me cooking one day to demonstrate what it is like to cook.
I'm not sure a viewer could really observe the struggle, except for the obvious walking issues, but perhaps one day I will record me cooking.
Ok, well my fingers are pretty tired and my dinner is getting cold. Bon Appetit! :)
